At Windfall Services LLC, we don’t just treat over the top of thick moss and call it good. If moss has already taken hold, we like to remove at least 50% of it before applying any product. That way the treatment can actually reach the surface and do its job. We've found that's the only way to get solid, long-term results.
Step 1 – Roof Inspection
We start by checking your roof to figure out the safest access points and how far the moss has spread. If it’s light, a treatment might be all you need. If it’s heavy, we’ll recommend a more thorough removal first.
Step 2 – Moss Removal
We use soft brushes and air blowers to gently knock down heavy moss without damaging your shingles. We do not use wire brushes or pressure washers—ever. Our goal is to remove as much as we can without compromising the roof. Most of the time, that means getting at least half of it off before we treat.
Step 3 – Moss Treatment
In most cases, we apply a roof-safe moss powder. It settles into the problem areas and breaks down the remaining moss slowly and safely. Depending on your budget and roof access, we can also soft wash the roof. Both methods are effective at killing remaining moss and helping prevent regrowth, but soft washing may give faster visual results if the roof needs a more aggressive clean.
Step 4 – Cleanup
Once we’re done, we blow everything off the roof and surrounding areas—porches, driveways, patios—and haul away the debris. We often lay down tarps or use gutter debris catchers to reduce mess during the job, but we always make sure your property is cleaned up before we leave.
Moss & Roof Maintenance
Most properties need at least one roof blow-off or gutter cleaning per year—more if you’ve got heavy tree cover. Staying on top of that kind of maintenance can save you a lot of money and extend the life of your roof and gutter system.
Moss is no different. It’s not something you want to wait to see before taking action. The best time to treat moss is before it shows up. That's why we recommend doing a treatment powder every year.
That’s why we usually include a moss treatment powder when we’re already on your roof for something else. It’s cheap, effective, and easy to apply while we’re up there. It helps stop moss before it starts, and keeps small growth from turning into a bigger problem down the line.
If you’re already hiring us for a gutter cleaning or roof blow-off, adding moss treatment is a no-brainer.
Moss Removal & Treatment Pricing
Pricing for moss removal and treatment really depends on a few key factors: the size of your house, the amount and stage of moss growth, and how steep or tricky your roof is to access. No two jobs are the same, so we price each one individually based on what your roof actually needs.
That said, we know moss removal isn’t optional—it’s something that has to be done to protect your roof. So we’ve worked hard to keep our prices reasonable and in a spot where nearly any homeowner can afford it.
